Communications Consultant
Consultancy Period: March – August 2026
1. Background
The Initiative for the Promotion of Civic Participation (Civic Voice) is a registered civic initiative working to strengthen democratic participation, reclaim civic space, and amplify youth voices in Kenya. Through research, movement-building, creative expression, art, and strategic advocacy, Civic Voice engages young people to promote accountable governance and active citizenship.
Civic Voice’s recent project phases have generated strong engagement through multimedia storytelling, digital platforms, and mainstream media. Civic Voice now seeks a Communications Consultant to consolidate these gains.
2. Purpose of the Consultancy
The consultancy aims to strengthen Civic Voice’s visibility, narrative coherence, and accountability by expanding youth reach, capturing programme outcomes, and producing high-quality communications materials suitable for donors and the public.
3. Scope of Work
- Implement a six-month strategic communications and messaging plan
- Produce youth-centred digital and multimedia content
- Manage Civic Voice website, social media and digital campaigns
- Support mainstream and digital media engagement
- Develop and edit articles, blog posts, TV stories, and other content
- Graphic design (print and digital)
- Media monitoring and analysis
- Coordinate photography, video content creation, and podcasts
- Document activities for donor reporting
- Monitor engagement and produce analytics summaries
4. Expected Deliverables
• Communications plan and messaging framework
• Regular digital and multimedia content
• Managed website and social media platforms
• Media coverage documentation
• Monthly analytics briefs
• Final Communications and Media Report (Mar–Aug 2026)
5. Duration and Level of Effort
The consultancy runs from 1 March to 31 August 2026 and is part-time.
6. Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have experience in civil society/non-profit communications, strong digital storytelling skills, familiarity with youth and civic engagement in Kenya, and experience with donor-facing documentation.
